This Torras MiniMag Battery Pack is the thinnest wireless charger I’ve tested, and I’ve had the chance to review a lot. Its ultra-thin profile makes it a great value if you’re buying a battery pack for yourself or a loved one, because it will be much more practical for so many uses. It doesn’t have any kickstand or added features, but its 5,000mAh capacity is pretty comparable to other packs I’ve tested. 

The MiniMag pack is available typically under $50, and is only 0.3 inches thick, which makes it ultra slim and easily portable. It’s a lot less bulky than other options on the market. It provides 18W USB-C charging or 7.5W wireless charging, too.

Despite some possible improvement areas — the pack is a bit slippery in the hand and lacks grip — my buying advice for this pack is straightforward: it’s a good buy. This probably isn’t the best battery if you’re looking for added features like kickstands or grips or larger capacity options. Torras does make a 10,000mAh version that’s only 0.5 inches thick, but the MiniMag a super practical option to ensure you always have a battery pack on hand. I was thoroughly happy with its performance, especially for its thin design. Despite its smaller stature, it does not compromise on charging or speed.

Your iPhone isn’t complete without an on-the-go charging accessory. And if a traditional MagSafe battery pack is too much for you, the extra-compact Anker Nano Power Bank may be perfect. According to Anker, this power bank packs 5,000mAh capacity, which is enough to charge an iPhone 15 Pro to 68%. When ZDNET’s Sabrina Ortiz tested the mini charger in 2023, she found that it charged her Samsung Z Flip 4 from zero to 30% in half an hour, and she loved the lipstick-sized battery for its easy portability.

“Although it might not seem like a tremendous boost, remember that this portable charger is meant to get you out of a pinch,” Ortiz said. The power bank’s small form factor, USB-C connector, and 5,000mAh capacity make it a solid travel charger for all your on-the-go needs, but if you own a non-USB-C iPhone (anything before the iPhone 15), the charging port won’t be compatible.

Amazon reviewers loved the Nano power bank for its easy-to-use capabilities, foldable USB-C port, extreme portability, and ample extra power-up. Just as Ortiz noted, current users said to keep in mind that this charger won’t provide a total power boost for your iPhone but rather just enough to get by.

The Apple Watch Series 10 just debuted in September with some new features that make it an upgrade from the Series 9, and its a great addition to any iPhone. Most notably, there is a new sleep apnea tracking feature that works through the watch’s accelerometer, which monitors movements associated with respiratory pattern interruptions and is tracked by Apple’s new Breathing Disturbances metric. There is also a new water depth gauge, which measures almost 20 feet (up to six meters) beneath the water’s surface, and a water temperature sensor to benefit swimmers, surfers, and snorkelers.

As far as the build of the watch goes, there is an improved and bigger display (42mm and 46mm sizes) thanks to the wide-angle OLED display that offers up to 40% brighter viewing angle compared to the Series 9. The Series 10 is also 10% thinner and lighter which makes it more comfortable to wear, especially while sleeping.

If you want the latest health sensors and safety features, great battery life (especially if you want to do sleep tracking), and you don’t need the extreme features in the Ultra 2, then you can save a lot of money by going with the aluminum model of the Apple Watch Series 10 starting at $399. I advise you skip the tougher titanium finish on the Series 10 that starts at $699 and go for the Ultra, only $100 more, that offers lots of extra features — unless you have a smaller wrist. Then I’d suggest sticking with the Series 10.

Nomad’s Sport Case for iPhone is approved by ZDNET editor-in-chief Jason Hiner. Hiner says this Nomad case is a “great mix of protective, easy-to-grip, lightweight, and distinctive look.”
