If your current iPad is starting to feel a little sluggish, good news could be coming later tomorrow. Apple has confirmed that it’s holding a major launch event from its US HQ in California and it seems almost certain that new tablets will come out of Cupertino. Although the US technology giant remains usually tight-lipped about exactly what will be announced during its “Let loose” keynote there are plenty of hints that give us a pretty good idea about what to expect.
Firstly, an invite sent out to media includes an image of the famous Apple logo that’s been created using a hand holding an Apple Pencil. That stylus only works on Apple’s lineup of iPads which is a pretty clear indication of what’s to come.
The next big reason to expect upgraded tablets is that Apple hasn’t refreshed these popular devices in well over a year. In fact, no new iPads were revealed at all in 2023 which is highly unusual. Many thought a reveal might take place in March but that date came and went and a reboot is now long overdue.
If you’re excited at the thought of some shiny new Apple gadgets then things will kick off from 3pm BST on Tuesday May 7.
Experts have been speculating that this will be a major update with it though these latest devices may even come packed with a new M4 chip that could make them more powerful than some MacBook laptops.
Other whispers suggest a change to the displays with it possible that Apple will bring stunning OLED panels to the range.
Longer battery life, better cameras, a new design and extra colours could also feature along with improved accessories.
We might see some refreshed keyboard cases along with a massive upgrade to the Apple Pencil. It’s thought this device might become more precise along with offering advanced haptic feedback. This could even add physical effects to make it feel like you are really scribbling on paper. With Apple using the Pencil so prominently in its invite, it’s pretty clear this drawing device is in for some massive changes.
Of course, with Apple keeping things so secret, we won’t actually know everything that’s new until tomorrow but it could be a very big day for iPad fans.
